The finest sculptures in the world reveal the viewer to the viewer. In the twisting muscles of
Laocoön we feel the strain of our struggle for survival; in the tender face of Michelangelo’s
Pieta we feel the inner glow of immaculate love; in Rodin’s
The Thinker we feel the ponderous burden of thought like a mountain on our shoulders. These and the other great numinous sculptures of history reflect our experiences of life in the universal emotional language of gesture and form. The truths we find in their shadows feel so intimately familiar because they’ve always been a part of us.
An improvisational fusion of river clay and water, time, and the judicious application of force, my work explores the ageless tradition of classical figurative sculpture: to discover bold new expressions of resonating emotional substance, and to share them with you.
The Metamorphoses Collection, my latest offering of allegorical sculpture, emerges from the provocative truths in Ovid’s epic poem to illuminate the heroism, the agony, and the dazzling potential for transfiguration within the human heart.
